If you’re working with a long video in CapCut but only need a small part, this guide will show you exactly how to select and export that portion. Follow the steps below to easily pick the clip you need and save it.
Step 1: Start a New Project
- Open CapCut on your computer.
- Click on Create Project to begin a new editing project.
Step 2: Import Your Footage
- Go to the Media section in CapCut.
- Find the video file you want to edit on your computer and select it.
- Drag the selected footage onto the editing track at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3: Select the Clip You Want
- Play the video on the editing track.
- When you reach the start of the clip you want, press the I key on your keyboard. This marks the beginning (input point).
- Keep playing the video until you find the end of the clip you want. Press the O key to set the end (output point).
Step 4: Export the Selected Clip
- Once you’ve selected the clip, go to the top-right corner and click on the Export button.
- The duration of the selected clip will be displayed—this shows only the part you’ve chosen, not the entire video.
- Click Export to save your clip to your computer.
